We review our earnings and reach after one year of using Amazon Video Direct. We were very satisfied with the platform as an alternative to YouTube for free distribution... then in August of 2017 we were hit with a big surprise that made the experience even more amazing. Do you have any experiences using Amazon Video Direct? Let us know in the comments.

We released our micro budget horror film LOON on prime video direct in October of 2018 for rental and purchase only with the idea of giving it to prime members for free down the road. We have also had pretty good numbers so far but November it took off like a rocket before cooling off. We don't know how this happened but we are glad it did. So far we have only promoted the film by word of mouth and social media. Have you done an ad campaign for yours? I'm thinking of putting together a Google Ad campaign in the coming months and I'm just wondering if others on the platform have done anything like this. I see you have a few minutes streamed from Japan. Have you received much interest from Japan? We are thinking of doing the same if it makes sense. Thanks for making this video. There really isn't much information out there on this topic.

Hey, glad to hear it’s been going well for you! We did some Facebook ads and Google ads early on but didn’t see much results. It’s difficult with such a low-margin product (especially with streaming). I am interested in Amazon ads though, but i’m Not sure those are available to filmmakers yet.
